It''s 2026, and I''ve not seen the rest of the world look down on the USA like they do today in, well, forever. Other countries are shunning us in so many ways. Nobody wants to come here on vacation anymore.
Inflation is rising, the cost of goods is rising, to get into a starter house now requires a higher income than ever before, and the middle class continues to shrink.
We now blame everything on people from other countries that just want to do what our ancestors did: Move here and start anew and a safer life.
Well, guess what, it''s just starting. With the US invading Iran, the flow of oil has diminished. That makes oil more expensive, which results in a higher price of fuel for both our vehicles and homes.
Those higher prices ripple into almost everything else we buy. It makes every product that needs to be moved from one place to another more expensive. And all that makes our cost of living go up.
While for some people, a higher cost of living may not be that impactful, for many, it is deeply felt.
Given our current political makeup, I don''t see any of this changing any time soon. And, by the time it does change, it will take a long time to undo what''s already done and currently being done.
We are in dark times, and it''s getting darker. Sorry if this is a downer to anyone. But it is the truth, and that sometimes hurts (I mean that figuratively and literally.)
