My mastering chain

There are only a few things I use when mastering music:
1) Newfangled Elevate
2) Magna BB tubes
3) Heatwave
4) SPL Big
5) ProQ 4

#1 adds punch, #2 adds harmonics, #3 adds sizzle, #4 makes it sound more live and larger sound, and #5 is used to add to any dips and reduce any peaks in frequency. i.e., smooth things out.

Since writing this post, I've changed my chain significantly. Because I was using so many plugins, I was running a high CPU usage. So, I discovered I could produce the same or better result by using fewer or different plugins. I also discovered that having a better mix to start with made a big difference. But that's a different discussion.

Now I use the Waves L4 first, then the Heatwave, and finally the ProQ4 for any minor frequency tweaks. This is simpler yet gives a better result.
